Why check your CV against an ATS?
Most mid-size and large companies use an Applicant Tracking System to collect and rank resumes before a recruiter reads them. A resume that isn't structured or worded in a way the software can parse can be scored poorly or dropped from consideration entirely — even when the candidate is a strong fit for the role.
What this checker looks at
- Keyword match against a job description (or general ATS keywords)
- Formatting risks — sparse text, missing bullets, excessive special characters
- Content quality — action verbs, quantified results, job titles, dates
- Required resume sections — summary, experience, education, skills, and more
- Readability — sentence length, repeated words, and resume length
How it works
- 1. Upload. Drag and drop a PDF or DOCX file, up to 5 MB.
- 2. Extract. Your browser reads the file locally using PDF.js or Mammoth.js — nothing is sent anywhere.
- 3. Analyze. The text is scored across five weighted categories using a fixed, rule-based formula — never random values.
- 4. Improve. You get matched/missing keywords, missing sections, formatting warnings, and concrete recommendations.
Your privacy
This tool does not use a backend server for CV processing. Your file is read directly in your browser using the File and ArrayBuffer APIs, analyzed locally, and never transmitted anywhere. We don't log your CV content, email address, phone number, name, or any job description you paste in. See our Privacy Policy for details.
This ATS score is an estimate based on common applicant-tracking-system practices. Actual results may vary between employers and ATS platforms.
Frequently asked questions
What does this ATS CV checker actually do?
It reads the text of your uploaded PDF or DOCX entirely inside your browser, then scores it across five weighted areas: keyword match, ATS formatting, content quality, required sections, and readability.
Does it connect to a real recruiting ATS?
No. It does not connect to Workday, Greenhouse, Taleo, or any other real recruitment platform. It estimates compatibility using common ATS parsing practices, but different ATS platforms process documents differently.
Do I need to create an account?
No. There is no registration, login, or account of any kind. You upload a CV and get a score.
What happens to my CV after I upload it?
Nothing leaves your browser. The file is read using the File API, the text is extracted with PDF.js or Mammoth.js, and analyzed locally. Nothing is uploaded to a server, and the extracted text is cleared when you refresh or leave the page.
Can it read scanned or image-based PDFs?
Not yet. If a PDF contains no extractable text (common with scanned documents), you'll be asked to upload a text-based PDF or a DOCX file instead.
